About us
Young people ages 0 to 26 and their families may get a wide variety of mental health and addiction treatment services at Astor Services for Children and Families-Poughkeepsie Counseling Center, which is situated in Poughkeepsie, New York. For more than 70 years, the Bronx and the Mid-Hudson Valley have been served by the community-based non-profit organization Astor Services for Children and Families, of which the facility is a part. With a focus on social services and drug and alcohol recovery, Astor is dedicated to making sure every kid has the chance to grow up healthy and happy.
The goal of Astor’s outpatient program is to treat any underlying mental health issues in addition to addiction. Doctors, nurses, social workers, and therapists make up the multidisciplinary case management team, which collaborates to provide all-encompassing treatment. In order to concentrate on stress management and emotional control, clients attend treatment many times each week, often with the assistance of their families, forming a solid support system for their rehabilitation. In addition, the clinic provides general care and medication management services, such as prescription refills, drug tests, and mental treatment.
Astor’s advocacy programs help children with educational difficulties by connecting them to children’s social services or enrolling them in Head Start for families that need further help. In keeping with its mission to serve the community, Astor offers financial help to people without insurance on a sliding basis and via Medicaid coverage.
Astor’s concept is built on a data-informed, family-driven, strengths-based, and holistic approach. Psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, educators, and early childhood experts are among the organization’s professional team members committed to providing families with the utmost respect and care.

We understand that choosing an addiction treatment center can be overwhelming, especially with so many options, promises, and marketing messages. Thatโs why weโve developed a clear, standardized rating system designed to cut through the noise and highlight what truly matters: safety, quality of care, and transparency. Our goal is to give individuals and families the information they need to make confident, informed decisions during a critical time.
In this guide, we explain exactly how we rate treatment centersโfrom accreditation and staff credentials to therapy options, facility environment, and family involvement. Youโll see how we assign scores, award badges, and update listings to ensure accuracy and fairness. Most importantly, our system focuses on elevating centers that prioritize ethical, evidence-based care, not just those with the best marketing. This way, you can trust that the ratings you see reflect meaningful standards that help you find the right fit for lasting recovery.
