About us
For adult males with a diagnosis of chemical dependence, Step 1, a comprehensive transitional housing program, is offered in Reno, Nevada. This program, which is gender-specific, is geared on supporting guys who are determined to improve their lives and overcome drug use problems. With the motto “Do the next right thing,” Step 1 has been a structured atmosphere that supports personal development and rehabilitation since its founding in 1993.
The program makes sure that clients get the assistance they need as they progress toward lasting sobriety by combining Level 1 outpatient therapy with transitional housing. Counseling sessions, both individual and group, are an important element of the healing process for residents. The program places a strong emphasis on peer mentorship in addition to therapy, enabling participants to benefit from and support one another along the way.
In Step 1, participants are expected to take an active role in their rehabilitation via following house rules, going to all therapy sessions on time, attending 12-step meetings, and finding work. The curriculum is designed to promote accountability and responsibility, with a particular emphasis on developing the skills necessary for long-term success. It is important to remember that in order to be eligible for this program, residents must have a history of violent or sexual crimes.
Step 1 provides inexpensive payment choices for those who may not be eligible for Medicaid, private insurance, or sliding fee scales. The first evaluation is $98. The screening price is $7. Individual therapy is $40 per month, group counseling is $21 per week, and the initial assessment is $40.
Step 1 is essential in assisting people in moving from dependence to a more secure and satisfying existence by providing a friendly atmosphere and a variety of programs catered to the requirements of men in recovery.

We understand that choosing an addiction treatment center can be overwhelming, especially with so many options, promises, and marketing messages. Thatโs why weโve developed a clear, standardized rating system designed to cut through the noise and highlight what truly matters: safety, quality of care, and transparency. Our goal is to give individuals and families the information they need to make confident, informed decisions during a critical time.
In this guide, we explain exactly how we rate treatment centersโfrom accreditation and staff credentials to therapy options, facility environment, and family involvement. Youโll see how we assign scores, award badges, and update listings to ensure accuracy and fairness. Most importantly, our system focuses on elevating centers that prioritize ethical, evidence-based care, not just those with the best marketing. This way, you can trust that the ratings you see reflect meaningful standards that help you find the right fit for lasting recovery.
